Lynx fall to SCC, Turner scores 17

Burlington, IA – The men’s basketball team took to the road for the third time in seven days and fell short at Southeastern CC in Burlington, IA 87-70.  The Lynx held tough trailing by four points at the half behind 10 first half points from Sophomore Juvon Turner (Chicago, IL).  Sophomore Conlan Callahan (Seneca, IL) knocked down three 3-pointers in the first half to keep Southeastern within reach.  The Blackhawks proved to be too much for the Lynx as they extended their lead for the 17-point win.  Callahan added two more 3-pointers in the second half to finish with five on the night and 15 points.  Turner led the Lynx with 17 points.  Sophomore Jamaal Murray (Country Club Hills, IL) also scored in double figures with 15 points.  SCC’s Sam McDaniel led all scorers with 22 points.  The Lynx were 15-for-20 from the foul line for 75%.

Lynx men’s basketball win third straight, hit century mark with 100-62 win over Oakton

Des Plaines, IL – The men’s basketball team hit the century mark in a win last night over Oakton Community College on the road in a non-conference game.  Overall, the Lynx (4-4) had 13 different players score in the contest as they took down Oakton (2-4) 100-62.  Leading the way for the Lynx was Sophomore Jacob Wood (Centralia, IL) with 19 points including three 3-pointers.  Also in double figures for the Lynx were Freshman Michael Nelson (Steger, IL) and Sophomore Juvon Turner (Chicago, IL) with 14 and 12 points respectively.   Lincoln took a 46-30 lead into half and never looked back.  The win is Lincoln’s third in a row and upped their record to 4-4.

Lynx men’s basketball get weekend split at Guzzardo’s Classic

Lincoln, IL – This past weekend, the men’s basketball team hosted the Guzzardo’s Classic, a four-team shootout with Olney Central, Illinois Wesleyan JV, Black Hawk East and LC.  Friday night, the Lynx took on Olney and came away with an 83-67 loss.  Freshman Stevie Williams (Chicago, IL) led the Lynx with 23 points and eight rebounds.  Williams went 6-of-15 from the floor and 9-of-12 from the free throw line.  Also in double figures for Lincoln were Sophomore Conlan Callahan (Seneca, IL) with 11 points and Sophomore Jacob Wood (Centralia, IL) with 10 points.

Lynx take one on the chin at Rend Lake; lose 89-66

Ina, IL – The men’s basketball team made the long trek down to Rend Lake College in Ina, IL last night and came away with a “disappointing” 89-66 loss.  The loss drops the Lynx to 1-3 on the season.  Head coach Pat Lepper commented, “We didn’t come to play.  I’m very disappointed in our effort.  We need to get better.”   Sophomore Conlan Callahan (Seneca, IL) led the Lynx with 17 points including five 3-pointers and 2-for-2 from the charity stripe.  Also in double figures for the Lynx were Sophomore Jamaal Murray (Country Club Hills, IL) with 12 points, Sophomore Jacob Wood (Centralia, IL) with 11 points, and Edward Bowlby (Lincoln, IL) with 10 points.  Lincoln went 16-for-27 from the free throw line and connected on eight 3’s.

LC Men’s Basketball gets first win over Statesmen at home

Lincoln, IL – The men’s basketball team won their home opener on Homecoming weekend with an 82-80 win over the Statesmen of Lincoln Trail College.  The Lynx came back from an 18-point deficit to pull off their first win of the year.  The men improve to 1-2 on the early season.

LC Hoopers Open Season with Tough Loss at Carl Sandburg 91-90

Galesburg, IL – The men’s basketball team opened up their 2015-16 season on the road at Carl Sandburg College and came away with a hard fought 1-point loss 91-90.  Sophomore Conlan Callahan (Seneca, IL) led the Lynx with 24 point including five 3’s and a perfect 5-for-5 from the line.  Three other Lynx were in double figures including Sophomore Jamaal Murray (Country Club Hills, IL) with 15 points, Freshman Stephen Williams (Chicago, IL) also with 15 points, and Sophomore Juvon Turner (Chicago, IL) had 13 points.

Men’s Basketball Falls to Black Hawk-Moline 81-74; Turner Posts Double-Double

Moline, IL – Lincoln College Men’s Basketball team fell to Black Hawk-Moline on the road last night 81-74.   Sophomore guard Jamaal Murray (Country Club Hills, IL) led the way with 19 points off the bench.  Murray went 6 of 9 from the field and 7-10 from the charity stripe.  Murray also had seven rebounds, 2 assists and a steal.  Freshman guard Stephen Williams (Chicago, IL) chipped in 18 points and six assists.   Sophomore forward Juvon Turner (Chicago, IL) added a double-double with 16 points and 15 rebounds.  Edward Bowlby (Lincoln, IL) dropped in three 3-point buckets and finished the night with 11 points.  The Lynx drop to 0-2 on the year.

Lincoln College Men’s Basketball to Host Fall Jamboree

The Lincoln College Men’s Basketball program will host a jamboree on Sunday, October 11, 2015.  Games will start at noon and run till 6pm in the afternoon.  Teams will play on 4 courts, 2 courts located on the campus at Lincoln College and 2 more courts at Lincoln Community High School.  Admission will be $5.00 for adults and $3.00 for students.  Children 10 and under are free.

Coach Lepper’s Comments:  “We are a young team and we will get better as the season goes on.  I was proud of our effort at times but our lack of team discipline cost us the game.  It was a great test for us and we will use this as a learning experience.”

Next game is Friday at Home, Nov 14 at 7:30pm against Region 24 foe Rend Lake.
